"Hidden Strawberries" follows Valentina, a young woman from Mexico who searches for her missing brother, Rodrigo, who disappeared while trying to cross the border into the United States. Working on a Californian strawberry farm, Valentina encounters exploitation and the threat of wildfires—events that mirror broader environmental and social injustices. Through the motif of dance, Valentina connects with her heritage and asserts her identity amidst these challenges. Traditional Mexican dances are woven throughout the play, enriching the narrative and illustrating Valentina’s cultural and personal resilience. "Hidden Strawberries" invites audiences to consider the implications of environmental policies, the necessity of resilience in adversity, and the role of cultural practices in maintaining identity.
