Climate Crisis is also a crisis of culture, and thus of the imagination.”

Amitav Ghosh

The mission of Art for Environmental Justice (AEJ) is to use art to raise awareness about the disproportionate impact of environmental issues on the lives of underrepresented groups.

Environmental Injustice: A Wicked Problem

The multifaceted nature of environmental injustice, its invisible impacts, and the need for collaboration between stakeholders make it a wicked problem. Solutions must address root causes and require sustained effort and innovation to achieve lasting change for marginalized communities.

Arts: Language for Communicating Complex Problems

Throughout history, humans have used art to communicate complex issues. We believe art can bridge the gap between knowledge and action, turning complex issues into accessible stories. By inspiring and engaging people through art, we can empower individuals and communities to take action and support effective policies and solutions.

We Must Change the Narrative

By acknowledging the complexity of the climate crisis and the importance of working with affected communities, we can shift the narrative towards a more collaborative, inclusive, and hopeful approach that inspires action and drives change. Art can play a crucial role in shifting the narrative by amplifying the voices of marginalized groups who are disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis.
